For the operators of railway infrastructures it is important to supervise the state of the pantographs all over their whole railway network constantly. Worn or rejected contact stripes lead to defects of the pantograph as well as the overhead contact wire.
The system "CONTACT Check" developed by ASE GmbH takes over these supervision duties automatically and independently. The measuring and recognition system is mounted concentric above the rail way in bridges or bearers or can also be integratied into the multisensor system "ASE Checkpoint"
Contact Strip Analysis:
Preventing damage to the contact wire caused by Worn or broken carbon layers
Measuring the force on contact wire:
Optimising the contact pressure – wear protection
Optical Recording
- Position of the pantograph
- Wear and defects of contact strip
- Position of the contact strip relative to the longitudinal and transverse axes
- Missing or deformed contact strips
- Thickness of the carbon layer over the total width (degree of wear)
- Inconsistencies in position and width (broken areas)
- Contact wire elevation indicating contact pressure
- Type detection and speed
- High-speed image recording
- Differentiation of carbon or copper contact strips
