Monitoring portal of a tunnel

Eschborn / Bruchsal, Germany. The DB Netz AG ( German railway net company ) is increasing the operating safety on the high-speed trip distance Cologne / Rhine-Main by monitoring the tunnel portal at km 98.52 (east portal of the „Lange- Issel“ tunnel) regarding disturbances within the track range.
For the smooth railway running, occurrences like e.g. larger animals, gangs and herds, humans, trees, rock and vehicles, which are in a specified range of the track, are detected automatically and release an alarm .

The system of the ASE AG, Bruchsal, uses besides thermal image cameras additional video monitoring technology. The control station will be informed via acoustic signal about an alarm and receive the „in situ“- picture data for evaluation in „real time “ on the monitor. Additionally the operator can steer the monitoring camera locally as desired; i.e. pan, tilt, zoom. False alarms are excluded to an maximum.

The videomanagement software ist able to classify the detected objects regarding their size, speed and directions of movements and dwell time on a special position and to release the appropriate actions.
